Moment Rescue Divers Hoist Man Who Fell Into River To safety

This is the moment French rescuers hoist a man who had fallen into the river to safety after rescuing him.

The incident took place in the southern French city of Toulouse, on the banks of the river Garonne, in the French department of Haute-Garonne and of the larger region of Occitanie on Friday evening (1st October).

The footage shows the injured man, who has not been named, being secured on a special stretcher before being hoisted to safety. He was then taken to the Toulouse University Hospital but was not seriously injured, the firefighters said.

They shared the footage on social media along with a statement (in French): "Friday evening, the #SDIS #HauteGaronne firefighters were engaged in Toulouse at the banks of the Garonne to rescue a man in his thirties following an impressive fall in the river.

"This particular intervention required the sending of reinforcements, both divers, but also specialists from the #Grimp reconnaissance and intervention group in perilous environment who allowed the victim to be safely raised.

"The latter, slightly injured, was then transported to the Toulouse University Hospital .

This operation mobilized personnel from the Toulouse Vion, Toulouse Delrieu, Toulouse Lougnon, Colomiers, Ramonville-Buchens, Rouffiac-Tolosan and Saint-Gaudens fire and rescue centers."
