Germany: Zapatistas hold boat demo and march against 'capitalist colonialism' in Berlin - 08.10.2021

Members and supporters of the Zapatista Army of National Liberation (ELZN) held a boat demo against 'capitalist colonialism' in Berlin, on Friday. Among other topics, the protesters intended to draw attention to the participation of German train railway company Deutsche Bahn in the construction of contested intercity railway project 'Tren Maya' in Mexico. The EZLN is a Mexican anti-colonial movement that has been active since 1994 and control a large amount of territory of the south-western state of Chiapas, fighting for indigenous autonomy and equality. Today, the Chiapas conflict is considered a frozen conflict.

Mitglieder und Unterstützer der Zapatistischen Armee der Nationalen Befreiung (ELZN) haben am Freitag in Berlin eine Bootsdemo gegen den "kapitalistischen Kolonialismus" durchgeführt. Die Demonstranten wollten unter anderem auf die Beteiligung der Deutschen Bahn am Bau des umstrittenen Fernbahnprojekts "Tren Maya" in Mexiko aufmerksam machen. Die EZLN ist eine mexikanische antikoloniale Bewegung, die seit 1994 aktiv ist und einen großen Teil des Territoriums des südwestlichen Bundesstaates Chiapas kontrolliert und für indigene Autonomie und Gleichberechtigung kämpft. Heute gilt der Chiapas-Konflikt als eingefrorener Konflikt.

Miembros y simpatizantes del Ejército Zapatista de Liberación Nacional (ELZN) celebraron el viernes una manifestación en barco contra el "colonialismo capitalista" en Berlín. Entre otros temas, los manifestantes pretendían llamar la atención sobre la participación de la compañía ferroviaria alemana Deutsche Bahn en la construcción del cuestionado proyecto de ferrocarril interurbano "Tren Maya" en México. El EZLN es un movimiento anticolonial mexicano que lleva activo desde 1994 y controla gran parte del territorio del estado suroccidental de Chiapas, luchando por la autonomía y la igualdad de los indígenas. En la actualidad, el conflicto de Chiapas se considera un conflicto congelado.
