Magical relaxation
The harp is one of the oldest instruments and a symbol of Ireland. In the 18th century, the pedal harp was invented and became a standard in classical music. Even in the fine arts of the Cycladic civilization, the plot of a seated harpist was widespread.
Such marble statuettes date back to 2800-2300 B.C. The earliest ancient Egyptian depictions of the harp date back to about 2400 B.C.
The framed harp is most characteristic of Europe. The oldest written mention of the harp (lat. harpa) in Europe is traditionally attributed to Venantius Fortunatus (6th century AD). In 1810, Sebastien Érard perfected the Hochbrucker mechanism and patented the double pedal harp in Paris, which is in use today.
The Roman will praise you on the lyre, the barbarian on the harp, the Greek will sing you on the Achilles instrument, the Briton on the mouthpiece. Scholars believe that the "Achilles instrument" refers to an early (mentioned by Homer) form of the lyre, the khelis.
The golden strings resembling rays of the sun... The graceful frame, decorated with carvings and ornaments like the wing of a huge butterfly. The noble sound and the soft, silvery timbre... No wonder that the harp is considered the most beautiful and poetic musical instrument. And also mysterious.
In ancient times, the harp was considered to be an instrument of gods, in the Middle Ages, an instrument of monks and theologians. At the end of the last millennium it was counted among aristocratic preferences. Today it is a magnificent instrument, played mostly by women, but everyone listens to it without exception. The harp can be played on almost anything, from church music to rock.
The harp has inspired poets and musicians, inspired creative spirits and filled romantic hearts with love. Even the shape of this instrument resembles the wing of a fairy tale butterfly.
If any of my subscribers are interested in the history of the harp and many historical facts, write me about it in the comments and I will devote one of the next videos to this topic.
In the meantime, make yourselves comfortable and enjoy the fabulous music.
Stay healthy and happy at all times!
