In the wake of the Harvey Weinstein scandal, entertainers (especially actresses and musicians) have banded together to form the "Times Up" movement (following closely on the heels of the #MeToo movement), ostensibly to end sexual harassment in the workplace, as well as to end the so-called "pay gap" between genders, etc. On this lively episode of TheFallenState TV, host Jesse Lee Peterson is joined by singer-songwriter-recording artist EMIKO for a very animated discussion. As an artist with a lot of experience, Emiko has a unique perspective on the music industry. She recently launched the "I Believe You" Project, inspired by her single of the same name. She also created a documentary short to explore the subject matter. In the lyrics of her song, as in the project, Emiko tells victims of sexual abuse that she believes them and stands with them. Jesse asks Emiko if her project is referring mostly to female victims of abuse, or male victims as well. A very interesting discussion follows! Tune in to hear Emiko's definition of feminism, as well as to hear a unique take on the #MeToo and #TimesUp movements!
