Italy: Hundreds of climate activists march through Milan for Youth4Climate summit - 02.10.2021

Several hundred climate activists marched as part of the 'Global March for Climate Justice' in Milan on Saturday, as G20 environment ministers prepared for the COP26 meeting in Glasgow, scheduled for November. Titled Youth4Climate, 400 climate activists from 180 countries met at a three-day summit in the Italian financial capital. They marched with banners through the city centre, facing police officers in riot gear. Artistic performances could be seen afterward performed by protesters. In a video message on Wednesday, Pope Francis thanked the young climate activists for their commitment and praised their vision in the midst of historic change. Participants at the Milan summit called for more accountability and more official roles for young people.

Unter dem Motto Youth4Climate trafen sich 400 Klimaaktivisten aus 180 Ländern zu einem dreitägigen Gipfel in der italienischen Finanzhauptstadt. Sie marschierten mit Transparenten durch das Stadtzentrum und stellten sich Polizisten in Einsatzkleidung. Anschließend waren künstlerische Darbietungen der Demonstranten zu sehen. In einer Videobotschaft am Mittwoch dankte Papst Franziskus den jungen Klimaaktivisten für ihr Engagement und lobte ihre Vision inmitten des historischen Wandels. Die Teilnehmer des Mailänder Gipfels forderten mehr Verantwortlichkeit und mehr offizielle Rollen für junge Menschen.

Varios centenares de activistas del clima se manifestaron el sábado en Milán en el marco de la "Marcha Mundial por la Justicia Climática", mientras los ministros de Medio Ambiente del G20 se preparaban para la reunión de la COP26 en Glasgow, prevista para noviembre. Bajo el título Youth4Climate, 400 activistas del clima de 180 países se reunieron en una cumbre de tres días en la capital financiera italiana.
