This breaching whale near Newport Beach, California, formed a rainbow as it spouted clouds of water into the air.

Stunning drone footage captured the moment the whale's clouds of water formed rainbows above the sea's surface.

The filmer, Mark Girardeau, said: "The angle of the sun and drone made for the perfect alignment to create this."
