A Letter to Sioux Falls VA Employees

My email opener below to an 11 page resignation letter I sent to coworkers at the Sioux Falls VA Hospital 9/21/2021:

"I know many of you don’t know me, and that is okay. I am not trying to cause problems- I am merely addressing the elephant in the room that many, if not most of us are aware of.

I am a PACT RN and I want to share this with all of you.

I have attached a PDF and know it is lengthy-

I beg you to read this.

Many of you will read this and instantly make up your opinions, followed by gossip, and that is fine as well. This is not high school- I survived mean girls then, I can do it now. But my hope is that some of you will read this, share this, and find the courage to speak up against what you know in your hearts is ethically wrong.

I have spoken to MANY of you who feel the same as I do and who feel stuck, due to financial obligations or fear of persecution.

I am completely okay with standing alone as I know I stand by my beliefs- I hope you can do the same.

This was a heartbreaking decision for me- but as an RN- I KNOW many feel the same way and are being forced to make unethical decisions every single day.

I am likely committing career suicide by coming forward, and that is a decision I am finally at peace with.
