Explain how your brain lies on you and always makes up things.

Keep staring at the black dot in the center of the image.
If you keep focusing on the black spots, the pyramidal cells of the retina become insensitive to the colors you can see, toning down orange and purple, and toning up colors that complement them.

So when I turn an image into black and white, your brain fills the gap with these complementary colors and maintains a normal illusion.

The image then flips to black and white, and the viewer is surprised when the brain is actually showing the blue sky and green trees, even when there isn’t really any color.
