Crossing Over by Donna Gentile

Recorded shortly after my Dad crossed over the great divide in 2013, this honor song was inspired by a teaching by Tecumseh (Shawnee) called "Live Your Life" and was brought through me for (and by) my father just days before his Soul took flight. It is meant to give our loved ones wings.

My sisters and I always thought our father was Native American, but we were told he was Italian and Slovakian. He said he would be coming back as a Bald Eagle and to look out for him.

In the song, there is a bounty of medicine. Dad and I did a stone ceremony before he passed where he put medicine prayers into stones for family members. Some of that medicine made its way into the song. His favorite sky was a "blue pink sky."
