Dungeons and Dragons 5D: Getting Started with D&D

Hi everybody, Matt Bickel here.

Today I want to talk to you about getting started playing Dungeons and Dragons, specifically in an in-person setting. I have played both over the internet and also in person, and I much prefer playing face-to-face at a table.

That being said, it's much harder to get a game going in person. On the internet, there are games going on all around the world; people looking for games to join, and people looking for players to join their games. Setting up a game in-person is a bit more work, but very rewarding.

Here is what I did: I bought the Dungeons and Dragons 5th Edition Starter Kit for $20.00 USD, read the materials, and felt confidant that I would really enjoy D&D as a hobby. I started putting together the different materials contained in the Starter Kit, as well as going around my local area, hanging up fliers advertising my game that needed players.

About three months go by, and I start getting call backs and E-mails like crazy! My table filled up, and off we went on our own D&D Adventure!

I highly encourage you to consider becoming a Dungeon Master. Every table needs one, and not everyone is willing to do it. That's totally fine, but maybe being a DM (Dungeon Master) is right for you? You won't know until you try!
