Why Other Countries Applauded Biden after U.N. Speech

In President Biden’s first speech to the United Nations, he claimed the U.S. is ready to lead the world. Unfortunately, that is not the reality.

In the first nine months of the Biden Administration, we’ve seen a botched withdrawal from Afghanistan that killed 13 U.S. service members and left Americans behind. We’ve seen a crisis at the border; 12,000 people are living under a bridge in Del Rio, Texas. Internationally, the Biden Administration entered into a re-negotiation with the UK and Australia behind France’s back, causing them to recall their Ambassador to the United States.

During the speech to the U.N., President Biden boasted about the situation in Afghanistan:

"We’ve ended 20 years of conflict in Afghanistan. And as we close this period of relentless war, we’re opening a new era of relentless diplomacy. . . . As I stand here today, for the first time in 20 years, with the United States not at war. We’ve turned the page. All the unmatched strength, energy, commitment, will and resources of our nation are now fully and squarely focused on what’s ahead of us, not what was behind."
