Kesa Gatame to Guillotine Choke

This is an interesting submission. It looks a lot like a North/South Choke and feels a lot like a Guillotine. I struggled with how to label this video and settled on referencing the Guillotine.

There are a couple of important things about this move. Obviously separating the arm from the body and trapping it is one of the most important things and in this video I go over an alternate way to do that (as opposed to how I did it in the last video).

Your body positioning is very important and will take some reps to get the feel right. Make sure to reference the video and see how I make space for my arm and watch how my his turn to make space.

The positioning of my ribs on the face is important too. If you get a good turn of the face then it will expose the near side of the neck and make sliding your forearm into the space a lot easier.

Beware the neck crank. It really is about that compression of your arms into your rib cage and not about twisting their head off. In the event that you are getting neck cranked tap and communicate to your partner so that you can get a clean choke.

With that being said it's completely legal to neck crank someone as a biproduct of a "legitimate choke". Just make sure you're attempting to choke them and not to crank on the neck.
