Actress Rose McGowan has thrown her support behind Republican candidate Larry Elder while torching Governor Newsom and his wife Jennifer, calling them “frauds”.

“Gavin Newsom you’re facing a recall because you’re a fraud just like your wife Jennifer Siebel Newsom," she said.

“I have the receipts. I wish I didn’t.

“I wish you were all real. I wish you really did help but you don’t and you’re on the side of wrong.

“I hope this recall goes through because California does not need you. The nation does not need you. The world does not need you. We do not need you.”

The activist joined Republican candidate Larry Elder at a press conference in Los Angeles where she called for Californians to vote Governor Gavin Newsom out of his role ahead of the recall election on September 14.

The actress also accused Governor Newsom’s wife of attempting to silence her accusations against Harvey Weinstein in 2017.

Ms McGowan alleged Jennifer Seibel Newsom directly contacted her six months before The New York Times broke the story on Harvey Weinstein’s multiple sexual assault allegations.

She said the governor's wife attempted to ask what the actress needed to do to “make you happy”.

A spokesperson for Ms Newsom told Insider the accusations weren’t true and was a “false attack” before her husband's recall election.

Ms Newsom has also claimed to be a victim of Harvey Weinstein after writing a 2017 Huffington Post piece which detailed a time she was left alone in a hotel room with the movie mogul.
