Dedicated to all of us that worked in the trading floor of the Chicago Stock Exchange before and after the attacks of 9/11. This video shows the reopening ceremony of the Chicago Stock Exchange's trading floor after the 9/11 terror attacks, the ceremony starts at the 6 minute mark. It took major coordination between the exchanges to get the markets back up and running after the attack. The video is a bit long as some of the people in the video have passed away since it was made and I did not want to leave them out. In my opinion, trading floors were probably some of the best places to work at, they not only helped to support many of the business within walking distance of the floor, the exchange and trading firms also offered some real good summer and entry level jobs. Due to the progress in electronic trading, in part spurred on by 9/11, most large trading floors are but a memory. Many, if not all, of us that worked on the floor miss being at the Chicago Stock Exchange floor, it was the worst of times, it was the best of times. This video was recorded by placing a camera in a place out of the way of business of the trading floor and hopefully this gives you a small flavor of what it was like being there.
