How to Determine Whether a Number is a Solution to an Equations | Part 1 of 2 | Minute Math
In this video we learn how determine whether a number is a solution to an equation. We are determine whether x=5 is a solution to 6x-17=16.
The Steps we follow are:
1) Substitute the number for the variable in the equation.
2) Simplify the expressions on both sides of the equation.
3) Determine whether the resulting equation is true.
3a) If it is true, the number is a solution.
3b) If it is not true, the number is not a solution.
