Did you ever build a dream board?

You certainly attract what you surround yourself with.

I walked into my aunt’s home, a modest Midwestern split level home in a middle class neighborhood, it was back in the 60’s.

Didn’t know then but it was a house of terror. Lou was already bed ridden and I could see him from the vestibule from which I clung to my mother’s dress.

Not a single family picture hung on the walls, the living room fashioned in white shag carpeting, and accented furniture in off white, which was covered in clear plastic. Off limits to children.

You could cut the atmosphere with a knife but at that age I was unable to process the horror I would witness growing up.

I walked into Pat’s house, hadn’t seen him since the Navy, years had passed, again not a single picture of family on the walls.

You surround yourself with the things that you believe are important, so it goes to say without a doubt you can tell a lot of another person by what they surround themselves with.

So if you want something hang a pic where you will see it all the time. Check it off when it’s been accomplished and smile. #dbrn
