Most people don't understand Bitcoin because it's a paradigm shift as the first digital money. Neither gold nor cars were digital money. So, economics, politicians, and investors all lack the right mental model to understand Bitcoin because science and engineering were so intrinsic to gold that we took it for granted. And science and engineering became quasi irrelevant in the fiat world as everybody ignored science and engineering, and there were no immediate consequences

But because there was no digital money and there was only one alternative to fiat, and people were comparing fiat currencies to each other, there was no real need to embrace science and engineering. Bitcoin is now the digital money that analog money is crashing into.

What is money? Tokenized energy isn't good enough to explain what money is. But we can define money using the ideal model. Ideal money is a shared, immutable ledger, which Bitcoin is. A crypto-asset network, fully decentralized and mature is the closest thing we can get to an immutable, shared ledger in world history.

Everybody must have the same access to the ledger, and the money has to be immutable which no one can doctor. But it has to be correct and mathematically complete.

Rome was the greatest empire on earth. When their final settlement network failed, the empire collapsed. And what you have is the endless succession of empires rising with a new gold standard that was not debased. The myth of gold as immutable money stayed for thousands of years till the 20th century. But now, the gold standard had been dying a slow death since 1914 till the Great Depression, and Bretton Woods.
