⛔ Why You Don't Feed Live Prey to Your Snake❗❌How to Transition a Ball Python off Live Prey

There are a number of reasons why you should not feed your snake live prey. Besides being cruel to the prey animal, it's very dangerous for the snake to be confined in a small gladiator Colosseum with a rodent, to fight to the death. One well-placed bite from a rodent that bites back during the struggle could render your pet snake blind, or even kill it. And rodents often hug the walls of a terrarium looking for an exit. If your snake strikes at a fast moving rodent and misses, or strikes to hard and goes beyond the rodent and into the glass or wall of the terrarium, your snake could break its jaw. I have seen all of these injuries before, and they sometimes lead to death of a pet snake. What I'm going to teach you in this video is how to transition of finicky eating Ball Python from live prey, onto frozen/thawed rodents. I will also explain to you why it is not necessary to move your snake to a different place to feed it. These techniques may also work for other snakes with their more common preferred prey scents if you're having trouble with them. Ball Pythons are notorious for being difficult eaters when first acquired, because their natural prey in Africa is often not fancy domesticated rats or mice, but often birds, or a little Gerbil like rodent called a Jerboa. Since those aren't available in every corner pet store, you can use the scent from a very close relative that Ball Pythons do seem to take interest in - Gerbils.
