Nero fiddled while Rome burned – wonder what climate change deniers are fiddling with as New York City floods?
As Tropical Storm Ida wreaks havoc in the southern and eastern USA, the governors of both New Jersey and New York have declared states of emergency, which allows for federal aid to be used. Flights out of both states have been suspended.
Distressing images have emerged of water gushing into homes and now-abandoned subway stations in the Big Apple, with Mayor Bill de Blasio calling the flooding ‘brutal.’
This follows vast and deadly floods this summer in Central Europe (killing at least 230 people), China, India, Afghanistan, Turkey, Pakistan and New Zealand – an increase in extreme weather that virtually all scientists believe is linked to climate change.
