LEAKED Biden Call Confirms Inexcusable Lie About Taliban
A transcript of a phone call was just released by Reuters between President Biden and the president of Afghanistan that took place on July 23rd over the Afghanistan crisis. By August 15th, the Taliban took over Afghanistan and the Afghan president fled.
However, just weeks before chaos broke out in Afghanistan, President Biden used this phone call with Afghan President Ashraf Ghani to express his concerns about the “perception” of the Taliban:
"I need not tell you the perception around the world is that things are not going well with the Taliban. And whether it is true or not, there is a need to project a different picture."
The Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, General Mark Milley, immediately followed President Biden’s footsteps. When he spoke with Ghani separately that day, he mimicked the President’s concerns:
"The perception in the United States, in Europe and the media sort of thing is a narrative of Taliban momentum, and a narrative of Taliban victory. We need to collectively demonstrate and try to turn that perception, that narrative around."
Well, they failed. We did not turn around the perception, because the REALITY was that the Taliban took over and 13 U.S. service members died, and Americans are still abandoned in Afghanistan as a result.
So, while the Taliban was plotting a victory in Afghanistan, it’s clear the Biden Administration was working, not to defeat the enemy, but to create a positive perception in the media. ACLJ Senior Counsel Andy Ekonomou explains how this transcript reveals the lack of leadership by President Biden and his handpicked Administration leadership:
"Totally irresponsible. . . . Instead of thinking about the fact that your intelligence is telling you that the regime that you have supported for 20 years off and on is now crumbling, you’re interested in making sure that the media perception – “whether it is true or not” . . . . He [President Biden] tells President Ghani you’ve got to look at how the media is going to look at this thing. And Mark Milley, the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, says the same thing. What kind of talk is that? What kind of leadership is that? Instead of worrying about the fact that the country is about to collapse, and you’ve got Americans in there and American supporters who have been with you all of these years and need to get out. Your concern is how the media is going to look at you and you are telling the president of another country to get into motion something that is going to change that perception. Totally irresponsible, totally outrageous."
When asked what the United States should think of the Taliban, the National Security Advisor to the President Jake Sullivan avoided gave the most absurd answer possible:
"Well, it’s hard to put a label on it, in part because we have yet to see what they are going to be now that they are in control, physical control of Afghanistan."
Really? It’s not hard to put a label on who the Taliban is. We don’t have to wait to see who they are when they are going door-to-door killing people right now. ACLJ Director of Policy Harry Hutchinson summed up exactly who the Taliban is:
"So, they are a terrorist organization. They were a terrorist organization. And my forecast is that they will continue to be a terrorist organization. So, one of the things that we should keep in mind with respect to the Biden Administration is that they try to avoid straight answers. So, they want to allow the perception to grow among the American people that the Taliban is indeed a reasonable organization. We can talk with this reasonable organization but when you really look at the founding documents of the Taliban, if you look at their actions. They are a 7th century organization, and they are committed to one thing and one thing only – and that is advancing Islamism by the point of a gun, bomb, or whatever. We should treat them very seriously. They cannot, in my judgement, ever be an ally of the United States."
We filed a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request to demand accountability for the Biden Administration. After the failed withdrawal led by President Biden that resulted in 13 U.S. service members killed, left stranded Americans in harm’s way still, and completely abandoned Christians to a potential genocide, we have to take action and hold these leaders accountable.
Today’s full Sekulow broadcast is complete with even more analysis of the transcripts revealing President Biden’s lie about the Afghanistan crisis.
