200404-N-EV253-1058 NEW YORK CITY (April 4, 2020) - Video diary: Hospitalman Corpsman 3rd Class Alexandria Agudelo checks in from aboard the Military Sealift Command hospital ship USNS Comfort (T-AH 20) while the ship is in New York City in support of the nation’s COVID-19 response efforts. Comfort will serve as a referral hospital for non-COVID-19 patients currently admitted to shore-based hospitals. This allows shore-based hospitals to focus their efforts on COVID-19 cases. One of the Department of Defense's missions is Defense Support of Civil Authorities. DoD is supporting the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the lead federal agency, as well as state, local and public health authorities in helping protect the health and safety of the American people. You can tell exactly what she’s referring to! The typed description states the ship is for “non-Covid patients”. She’s about to cry through her whole statement, she states this is “a very humbling experience” and says “you don’t have to be afraid anymore”. Why would non-Covid patients be afraid?! We got you loud and clear Corpsman! THANK YOU FOR DOING GOD’S WORK in saving the innocent! God bless you and those serving with you! ❤️🙏✝️
