Jesus is Just Alright by The Doobie Brothers ~ Christ is the Truth, the Light, the Way

The Doobie Brothers...a Goodly band who championed God and the Teachings of Jesus Christ with every single song they wrote and played...

Back in 1972, after their first album got little airplay and little press and went nowhere, despite being a very good record, the label put huge pressure on the Doobies to generate a "hit" if they wanted their recording contract to continue...well, the Doobies responded, as Tom Johnston delivered the Goods with a massive hit, Listen to the Music...a song that still pumps Love and Hope into every Heart that listens to this Music...

Suddenly, the Doobies had a little breathing room with the label, so when the record label found out that the Doobies wanted to add a cover of Arthur Reynolds, Jesus is Just Alright (from his 1966 Gospel album, Tellin' it Like it Is), to their own album, Toulouse Street, they were adamant that this Gospel track would NOT go on the record and ruin their chances of being taken "seriously" as a Rock band...

But, Tom Johnston and Pat Simmons stood firm before the record company and told them, that the album would be pressed with Jesus is Just Alright, or the album wouldn't get released at all...

The result? Listen to the Music was a monster success, and their Hard Rockin' version of Jesus is Just Alright with Me was played so much on the radio, that eventually it was released as a single, and without ANY help from the Record Label, the song became another big success for the band, and this album, turned the corner for the Doobies, and the rest (as they say), is History...

As a side note, AFTER the success of the Doobie's, Jesus is Just Alright, a slew of songs suddenly were released by the Music industry that championed the Teachings of Jesus Christ, establishing a trend of Godliness within an industry run by Satanists...the biggest of which was Cat Steven's gorgeous, Morning Has Broken...
