The WILD Shabbat of Rabbi Zusha (Funny)

Rebbe Zusha is a legendary figure in Hasidic Jewish tradition. He was the brother of Noam Elimelech and was in the third generation after the Baal Shem Tov, the legendary founder of the Hasidic movement.

Although Rebbe Zusha wrote no books, many stories and traditions have been passed down about his charismatic and inspirational personality. He had great optimism, love of God, and faith despite seemingly great hardships. To him, he saw no hardships.

Once, a man came to the Magid of Mezrich with a question he had in his studies. The Talmud says, "A person is supposed to bless God for the bad just as he blesses Him for the good", and the man found this very difficult to understand how this was possible. The Magid told the man to visit Rebbe Zusha and ask him.

The man went and found Rebbe Zusha living in extreme poverty. When he asked about the statement in the Talmud, Rebbe Zusha replied, "I also have great difficulty understanding this passage. I've never seen anything in my life as bad!"

Many stories, inspirational and sometimes miraculous, relay the larger-than-life inspirational person that was Rebbe Zusha.
