This police statistics video about mental health might be a surprise. Learn how to survive: https://bit.ly/SecureYourSanity

Here is the resource I display in the video:

So obviously just the suicide statistic does not paint the entire picture of police mental health statistics.
In this video, I will explain how if you were to go to the doctor and just say “I’m sad”, the doc wouldn’t just flip out the prescription book and prescribe happy pills. They would try to gather data points.

On a scale of 1-10, how would you rate your sadness
How has your sadness affected your relationships and quality of life
When did your sadness start?

A set of stats can be massively helpful than just stating there is a problem. So by bringing stats and issues to the forefront, we can bring up solutions.

The US Department Of Justice 15% of Police exhibit symptoms consistent with PTSD. You might not that think that is a big amount but that 15% could apply within a department and if the department has 2,000 officers, then 300 of them are affected.

You might think of PTSD and just think about Marines and soldiers returning from combat. Now thankfully that is receiving more attention but PTSD needs to be focused on when it comes to LEO’s as well.
So let’s bring down barriers, reduce the stigma, and help officers not feel bad or insecure for expressing their concerns and reporting symptoms.

Now please understand violence is not the only form of trauma that Officers are exposed to. Think about other things like seeing a suicide, arriving first on scene and seeing a young person who died from an OD, informing loved ones of victims that their family member was killed, and helping someone who has been a victim of abuse.

Seeing these things can cause PTSD, so let’s not discount the police statistics and you should not believe that you’re immune.

I hope you understand the seriousness of this, after watching this video.
