"Do I need a filter or is unfiltered tap water okay? To be fair it's not the 1800s anymore, when was the last time you ever heard of someone dying from cholera in the United States? Surely the water systems in America are clean, healthy and top-notch, do I really need to spend more money to get slightly cleaner water? Yes it is true that municipal water systems have done a great job in getting us clean water, but in fact many harmful things still remain in the water including metals like: lead mercury, and copper, chemicals like: chlorine, and pesticides and there's always the chance that there are those little tiny guys floating around called micro organisms. Some of these contaminants are mostly harmless in small amounts, but there are times when they can be deadly. The most dangerous contaminant of which is lead, lead is dangerous because you can't see it, you can't smell it, and you can't taste it, and even just a small amount can be dangerous. Filters can block out all that nasty lead, that disgusting bacteria like E. coli or those creepy crawly parasites. A filter acts as a barrier protecting your water, giving you nothing but the freshest, cleanest and most beautiful water. But one thing you need to remember is to actually change your filter, some people will buy a filter and think their job is done then they proceed to use this for the next couple years - no, that makes it even worse, remember all those nasty contaminants we talked about earlier, well that will build up in the filter and mold unless it's regularly changed.
