There are currently 393 million firearms in the US. This film shows 2328 of them. “Gun Shop” juxtaposes the frightening visual power of guns with a whimsy of Jazz percussion, and a dose of cultural irony.

My main inspiration for “Gun Shop” was the work of Paul Bush, and also the amazing tradition of jazz sync nailed down by Norman Mclaren and my NYC colleague george griffin (George helped a lot early on with this). I think it’s an under explored technique, particularly in the context of music.. I only know of about 10 films in this technique ever made.. the earliest appearance seems to be from Jan Svankmajer (similar use of winged insects as Paul Bush).
