¹"Eerily, Ida is forecast to strike southeast Louisiana on Sunday, August 29, the date of the 16th anniversary of when Katrina made landfall."

⁴ Mayor of New Orleans orders some evacuations for those outside the protection of the levee system.

HURRICANE IDA made landfall in CUBA, August 27, 2021, and is expected to arrive in the Gulf of Mexico also August 27th with 75 mph winds.

IDA is expected to upgrade as a CAT4, with maximum 140 mph winds and likely to landfall New Orleans on Sunday, Aug 29 (Katrina anniversary). IDA is forecast to move through Baton Rouge & then onward through Mississippi.
