Hijinks and ORAK Mansion on the Harriman State Park Yellow/Blue/Aquamarine Trail

Welcome back friends. We are back today with a trip to the #HarrimanStatePark #YellowTrail. We started off on the trail head by parking in a lot off of the road and walking over a little bridge for #MinisceongoCreek. The trail does not take long to lead you to the ruins of the #ORAKmansion that was built in 1923 by George Briggs Buchanan who was VP of Corn Products Refining Company, which manufactured Karo syrup (Orak is Karo in reverse). Though being mostly dismantled by the park and then nature, it is always interesting to be able to experience parts of history. Further along, we come across an active tower and then a #firetower that you can climb to get a beautiful 360 degree view of the park and overlooking #LakeWelch. After enjoying the view for a few, we continued along the yellow trail over some rocky terrain to the #BigShelter. It is perfect for a rest or to get out of some weather. From there, we took the blue/aquamarine trail until we found a footpath to lead us toward the lake and full circle past the #Irishpotato back to the parking lot.
