How to clean wax off apples

This video is all about: Cleaning the wax off of apples before caramel or candy dipping in two easy methods. No...you don't have to wash the wax off to eat your apples. This method is designed to COMPLETELY remove wax to make sure your caramel and candy STICKS to the apples when dipping. If you've seen candied apples that have loads of bubbles on the surface, or spaces where the caramel didn't coat, that's caused by the interference of wax. Tested and approved by all our favorite local candy apple makers!

This super short video is going to cover the following: Boiling water method, vinegar and boiling water, and lemon and baking soda.
Step 1: Boil water
Step 2: Add 1/4 cup of vinegar to boiling water
Step 3: Boil apples for 10 seconds
Step 4: Remove apples and buff with a coarse cloth
Step 5: Dip a sliced lemon in dry baking soda and scrub apples vigorously but gently
Step 6: Rinse apples with water
Step 7: Dry apples
Step 8: Dip in your favorite caramel or candy

Note: If you don't dip your apples right after cleaning, after several hours you will notice droplets of sap seeping through the skin. This is perfectly normal because the protective wax has been removed. Simply wipe the sap off and dip when you're ready.
