Study: Discerning of spirits

Discerning of spirit is no different than speaking in
tongues. They are both gifts given to the born-again believer. Therefore, if you are able to “speak in tongues” you are able to “discern between spirits.” However, just like any gift given by GOD it must be put to practice and you as a believer must become mature to know how to exercise the gift. [Hebrews 5:13-14]

Discerning of spirits is the ability to know and decipher the meaning and origin of what you are hearing in the spiritual realm. The apostle Paul shares with us an important truth all believers must come to believe and realize, and that is, that Holy Spirit lives and abides within us, and that He reveals all things unto us from the Father.

In 1 Corinthians 2:13, Paul mentions that Holy Spirit teaches us spiritual wisdom so that we may compare spiritual things with spiritual. [1Co 2:13] - These things we also speak, not in words which man's wisdom teaches but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

In 1 Corinthians 12:1, the apostle Paul makes an important statement regarding spiritual gifts by saying he does not want you and I to be ignorant regarding spiritual gifts. [1Co 12:1 NKJV] - Now concerning spiritual gifts, brethren, I do not want you to be ignorant.

How many gifts have your received? If you said ALL, you are correct. A better question posed to you would be "how many gifts have you exercised and put to use?"
