Who are the 144,000?

The number 144,000 appears in the Book of Revelation in two chapters. Many believe that both passages refer to the same group of people. However, this presentation shows that the 144,000 in chapter 7 are Jews from the 12 tribes of Israel who will be sealed with the seal of God. In chapter 14, the 144,000 are Christians who stand with the Lamb on heavenly Mount Zion. The 144,000 Christians are firstfruits to be raptured to the throne of God before the great tribulation. The term firstfruits makes it clear that not all Christians will be raptured at the same time. Only those Christians who mature first are saved from the great day of God’s wrath.
