Julie London, CRY ME A RIVER

Very early televised performance. Pre-dates by several months Julie London's contribution to the movie THE GIRL CAN'T HELP IT (1956). This staged TV presentation is a noirish masterpiece of "black ice." Footage derives from THE ROSEMARY CLOONEY SHOW episode of May 29, 1956—Julie's first significant guest-starring television appearance. "Cry Me a River" (written and composed by Arthur Hamilton) was the smash-hit first track from her debut album JULIE IS HER NAME, released just six months previously.
