State Dept. calls Taliban to form an “inclusive” gov; GOP Rep: We’re going to see Al-Qaeda 3.0

As the Taliban swept into Kabul, Biden was away on his August vacation. The last time he publicly addressed the crisis was on Aug. 10th. Yet under nearly universal criticism of the president’s silence about the disastrous Afghanistan situation, Biden finally returned on Monday afternoon and delivered his first remarks.

Rep. Mike Waltz, a Republican and an Army officer who served multiple tours in Afghanistan, expressed serious concerns over the situation. Waltz said, “Terrorism that happens in Afghanistan doesn’t stay in Afghanistan.” He warned that we’re going to see Al-Qaeda 3.0. When Obama pulled out of Iraq quickly and irresponsibly, ISIS came surging in. More critically, the credibility of the United States is now damaged. Waltz said if he’s witnessing what’s happening to Afghanistan as a Taiwanese or Ukrainian, he would be terrified of the kind of American promise made by the Biden administration.
