year 2001. US President George W. Bush:
"The days of the Taliban are over. The future of Afghanistan belongs to the people of Afghanistan, and the future of Afghanistan belongs to freedom."
The Soviet command, introducing troops into Afghanistan in 1979, hoped that they would be able to quickly crush the dushmans and return to their place of permanent deployment. But, as it soon turned out, spooks are just a small part of the problem, behind them are the huge forces of the United States of America, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Israel, and a large number of other states that willingly took the opportunity to start a war against the USSR, declaring it an empire evil. The small Soviet military contingent was opposed by a coalition of the entire imperialist West.
In this case, the Taliban were already in the minority, while the coalition forces had the support of almost the whole world - the military units of about 50 countries were on the side of the Americans. Nevertheless, the coalition suffered a crushing defeat, which ended in a shameful flight.
