How to quickly make inexpensive seaweed powder using a blender. Seaweed is very high in many nutrients including iodine, magnesium, manganese and omega 3 fats. It's a great condiment in sauces and casseroles. One of the easiest uses is to add it to onions and garlic when sauteing. The seaweed adds a very rounded base 'umami' flavour much like a good stock, broth or bouillon. It is commonly used by chefs such as Heston Blumenthal. Used appropriately, the flavour is not noticeable or overpowering. It makes food all the more delicious while adding a considerable nutrition boost!

Fun Fact: Japanese women have a much lower rate of breast cancer compared to Western women. There is some evidence it may be linked to the extra iodine they consume with their diet high in seaweed.
