Matthew 16:19 - Order In the Kingdom of God

Highlights:

* This is a consistent principle throughout the Scriptures:
The judgment of godly people, at any certain place and time, regardless of how many or how few of them there are, holds great weight with God, and He stands behind their decisions.

* God has instituted order in every part of His creation.

* There is order in the animal kingdom.

* Even the lifeless universe is synchronized, according to the order of God.

* Jesus humbled himself to the authorities of earth even when they were in the process of torturing and killing him.

* Don't let the pride and self-will that is in your fleshly nature puff you up against the authorities that God has put in place.

* The liberty of the children of God is extraordinary, and it can be used as an excuse for doing evil.

* The Son of God sets us free to be happy and do God's will, regardless of anything on earth, or anybody.

* What difference does it make who God puts in power, as long as we have our hope of eternal life?

* Whoever is in power will answer to our Father for everything he does, and that is none of our business. Daddy will take care of it.

* When you obey the government that God has set in place in our part of this world, you are obeying God. And when you disobey the government that God has set in place in our part of this world, you are disobeying God, and the apostle Paul said you will receive damnation for that.

* Of course, if earthly rulers puff themselves up against God and command us not to obey Him, we are free to respond the way the apostle Peter did when the Sanhedrin, Israel's council of elders, commanded him and the other apostles to stop preaching:

"Summoning them, they [the Sanhedrin] commanded them not to speak or teach anything at all in the name of Jesus. But Peter and John answered and said to them, 'Whether it is right in God's sight to listen to you rather than to God, you judge. For we cannot but speak the things that we have seen and heard.' (Acts 4:18-20).

*"We must obey God rather than men.'"(Acts 5:17-20, 25-29).

* God has also set heaven in order, with cherubs ruling over archangels, and archangels ruling over angels -- and who knows what else -- with Jesus being Lord over them all.

* God required order in the home.

* Paul said, "Wives, submit yourselves to your own husbands, as to the Lord, for the husband is head of the wife, as Christ is head of the Assembly of God, and he is the Savior of the body. Therefore, and as the Assembly is submissive to Christ, so let the wives also be to their husbands in everything" (Ephesians 5:22-24).

Many a man has used those scriptures to abuse his wife, in one way or another. But listen to what Paul said next:

"Husbands, love your own wives, just as Christ loved the Assembly of God and gave himself up for it" (Ephesians 5:25).

* It takes more humility for a husband to love his wife the way Christ loved us than it takes for a wife just to submit to her husband.

* Have you husbands nourished and cherished your wives the way Jesus has nourished and cherished you?

* God has set His family in order, instituting government in the body of Christ.

* Jesus is the greatest servant of all, and so, he is the head of God's government among believers.

* In God's kingdom, one must be appointed by God by being anointed by God to occupy an office. Otherwise, he holds no office at all.

* If God hasn't done anything, nothing has been done, no matter what people say, or how many people say it.

* When God anoints someone to occupy any position in the body of Christ, everyone else in the body is required to acknowledge and honor that gift of God.

* We have peace when we trust God.
