The Lamp

I wrote this song after reading the Parable of the Ten Virgins told by Jesus Christ in Matthew 25:1-12.

Through this parable, Jesus teaches His disciples and followers to be ready for His imminent return. He warns them (and us) that those who are ready when He returns will go into the marriage supper of the Lamb in heaven. He also clearly states that those who are not ready for His return will be knocking uselessly on the other side of the door.

According to Jesus, they will say, "Lord, Lord, -- open the door for us!" And much to their surprise in this parabolic teaching, Jesus says, "Truly I tell you, I don't know you." Then He said to them, "Therefore keep watch, because you do not know the day or the hour." (Matthew 25:12-13) Are you ready for Jesus's return? There's still time to get prepared, but the time is now! Do not delay!
