God has called His children to act justly, love mercy, and to walk humbly with Him.
To act justly is to live with a sense of right and wrong, and when presented with a choice between right and wrong…
To always chose to do what is right…not what is right in our eyes…but what is right as we are guided by God’s Word.
We are to love mercy; mercy is compassion or forgiveness shown toward someone who has offended us.
And we are to walk humbly with our God, which is simply depending upon God and not our own abilities.
To be devout is just another way of saying devoted…Simeon was devoted to God and the things of God.
He was waiting for the Consolation or the Comfort of Israel, it is possible that Simeon had heard about the Messiah being born…because the shepherds spread the news of His birth.
Simeon was waiting and looking for the promised Messiah…Who would bring comfort to the afflicted and salvation to the poor in spirit.
