On June 5, 1971, "The Ventures" released "Stranger in Midosuji ~ Ame no Midousuji" in Japan. Although this song has a strong image of being sung by Ouyang Fei Fei, it was first released as an instrumental song by "The Ventures". On September 5 of the same year, Taiwanese singer Ouyang Fei Fei covered the song as her debut single, and at the end of the year, she won the Rookie of the Year Award at the 13th Japan Record Awards.

“The Ventures" is an American instrumental band representing the 1960s. In the 1960s and 1970s, they created a new field of music called "Ventures songs" in Japan. My favorite "Ventures songs" are "Kyoto Bojo ~ Longing for Kyoto" and "Kyoto no Koi ~ Love in Kyoto" by Yuko Nagisa. Both of these songs have a hint of Japanese flavor to them. Then "Sasurai no Guitar ~ Manchurian Beat" and the duet "Futari no Ginza ~ Ginza Lights" by Masako Izumi and Ken Yamauchi. There are many other famous songs as well.

They are scheduled to visit Japan in August 2021. Let's hope that Corona comes to an end, that we can meet the Ventures in concert, and that we can brighten up the rainy season with some enchanting "Ventures songs!
