Africa brings home 34 Olympic Medals

African Olympic athletes brought home 34 medals from the 2020 Tokyo Olympic games (played in in 2021). Kenya lead the way with 10 medals (four gold). But Burkina Faso won its first ever medal and Botswana its second ever medal.

Africans also displayed some of the finest performances in Tokyo, including Tatijana Schoenmaker in the women's 200M breaststroke, Christine Mboma in the women's 200M run, the Kenyans in the marathon and 800M and Botswana's surprising bronze in the 4X400M relay.
