Diving The Cut in Bermuda

The Cut is the unofficial waste dump for St. George's residents. During the dive we come across several motorcycles, electric fans, air-conditioning units, bicycles, a variety of lawn furniture, electrical appliances, rum and beer bottles, a spool of telephone wire, ladders, fishing weights and miles of monofilament fishing line wrapped around most of it like some strange form of mummification. Despite having to live with this disregard for the health of the sea many immature fish hide in schools amongst the refuse. But all is certainly not well as we discover a lobster tangled in fishing line. We untangle the lobster and so it regains its freedom and lives another day. Above the water, the rest of humanity remains entangled in problems of their own creation.
