Cold Cases with John Newsom

You’ve seen it on the news and in fiction but, what is a Cold Case? Retired Homicide Detective John Newsom will guide us through the process that differentiates Cold Cases from other crimes. As you might imagine, it is much different than what is presented on television or in movies. You will learn the challenges facing detectives and CSI’s in trying to solve the most difficult cases. Probably the most common misconception-DNA analysis solves crimes-will be discussed. You’ll hear some of the things “learned” from psychics who seem to come out of the woodwork in high profile cold cases. Chief Newsom will talk about some of his cases that have been featured on CBS News 48 Hours Mystery, Forensic Files (A&E Network) and the cable show The Stranger Next Door.
