Matthew 16:13-19 What God Requires, Requires God

Highlights:

* It is beneficial to hear the sweet message of the gospel again and again.

* The wonderful thing about teaching and preaching is that if it is of God, it is not new to God's children because the Spirit is already saying those things in their hearts.

* There is not a single word in the Bible that is written to sinners. The only thing that God has to say to a sinner is "repent". And if a sinner does that, he will be forgiven, born of the Spirit, and belong to the people for whom all things were written.

* It is an important lesson to learn, that whenever God touches a person, that person is blessed, even if he does not understand his blessing.

* Nothing edifies, or builds up, God's people except something God does. Preacher Clark (George C. Clark, Sr.) said it well: "What God requires, requires God." And God does His work in our life by His Spirit.

* What is in the Spirit is acceptable to God, but what this generation does not understand is that ONLY what is in the Spirit is acceptable to God.

* The Spirit is the only thing on earth that is holy, and if it is in you, you are holy.

* In order for worship to be acceptable to God, God must sanctify the worshippers by the holy Ghost.

* If we are worshipping our God in a way that men can worship Him without the Spirit, we are worshipping in vain, just like the world.

* Carnal ways of worship are over - no matter how many other people are doing it - no matter what great names are doing it - no matter how long it has been done.

* If God does something for you, stick with it, and nothing will prevail against you.

* The spirit of this age is a spirit of victimhood.

* The gates of hell (referred to in Mat. 16:18) are entranceways into hell; that is, ways that men invent which lead into hell.

* Every false religion is a gate into hell.

* False religion is religion without the holy Ghost, because God does everything by the Spirit.

* ANY religion that you can participate in without being sanctified by the holy Ghost is a gate of hell - this includes Islam, Judaism, Shintoism, and Christianity and all of its sects.

* If you have the Spirit, you are in the kingdom of God because the kingdom of Good is in you. (Rom. 14:17)

* The "keys" Jesus gave to Peter (Mat. 16:19) was an anointing to open the door to the kingdom of god so that people could receive the Spirit and enter into it.

* Every apostle was anointed with power, but none of them could lay hands on people and have them receive the Spirit until after Peter unlocked the doors.

* There were three keys that Jesus gave to Peter:
- a key for the Jews,
- a key for the Samaritans,
- a key for the Gentiles
