Fleeing Criminal Rams Trooper Car Head On, LIVINGSTON, July 28, 2021 - At approximately 5 pm on July 28, 2021, a police pursuit started in the vicinity of US-146. Corporal Ramey Bass, with the Texas Highway Patrol was pursuing a gray Nissan Titan. The pursuit proceeded down Providence Road. The suspect had a good lead on Corporal Bass when he spun his vehicle around and came directly at Bass and struck Bass head on. Amazingly, both vehicles were still drivable. The chase made its way back to 146 and continued north towards Livingston with multiple other law enforcement agencies joining in the pursuit. The suspect continued to North Livingston and drove under the US-59 under pass next to the Junior High School where he entered the curve too fast and momentarily lost control. The suspect nearly regained control of his vehicle, but Bass had pulled his unit up to the suspect vehicle and forced him off the road into the grass. Pursuit halted. The suspect was immediately taken into custody, cuffed and loaded into a Sheriff's Office patrol unit and transported to Polk County Jail.
