Back on the Beam after Elbow Surgery | Whitney Bjerken Gymnastics

It's been over a month since I had surgery on my right elbow for osteochondritis dissecans (OCD). It is supposed to be a long recovery, so at least I have 1 month of recovery out of the way. I'm back on the beam, but I can't put any weight on my arm for a couple more months. I am working on my turns and dance.

Osteochondritis dissecans (OCD) of the capitellum is most often seen in adolescents who participate in sports that involve repetitive loading of the elbow. Unstable defects typically require surgical intervention that involves fragment fixation, debridement, or reconstruction with an osteochondral autograft transfer.
