EPISODE 23: DeWalt Chainsaw - Any good?

Bryce is tired of struggling to get the Poulan Pro working. Todays gas just dries out the lines and they break way too easy, causing all kinds of running problems. A couple years ago we decided to get a DeWalt Flexvolt weed trimmer and found that it had more power than the gas version we were running - and that was on the Lo setting. Could a battery chainsaw actually hold up to cutting trees - more than just trimming and pruning?

We look at a DeWalt 16” Flexvolt chainsaw to see if it can cover our needs of cutting trees both in Ohio and Kentucky. Our first use, very short, was actually in Kentucky, but we look at it a little closer today. We also show how to upgrade the length to an 18” bar and chain by Oregon.

There are advantages to not having to have an oil/gas mixture for your small engines. One is not having that smell. Another is the noise. The battery powered small “engines” only make noise when they are actually cutting or operating. A lot less heat is also produced - so no hot exhaust to burn yourself on!

What about disadvantages? One would be the battery weight. If you have to carry 6 batteries to get a half a days work, is it worth it? If you can charge from your vehicle, maybe that is not a problem. The batteries do last, but running it hard could wipe your supply for that day quite quickly.

Could this replace a gas chainsaw? Let me know in the comments!
