Iraq's Balanced Relations Aim to Promote Regional Security and Stability, and Combat Terrorism

On Thursday, July 15, 2021, at al-Salam Palace in Baghdad, the President of the Republic of Iraq, Barham Salih received the credentials of the newly appointed UK ambassador to Iraq, Mr. Mark Bryson-Richardson.
Iraqi-British ties were discussed during the meeting, with focus on the need to strengthen these relations across all sectors.
Iraq, in its foreign policy, aims to build balanced relations based on working jointly with its friends and partners in the international community to establish security and stability in the region and work towards calming tensions there, President Salih said.
It is therefore, economic, trade, health and environmental integration and interdependence should be supported as combating corruption should be go ahead, he added, while our regional and international efforts in the fight against terrorism and extremism should be stepped out.
Mr. Richardson, in turn, said that Uk is committed to supporting Iraq's security, stability and sovereignty. Furthermore, he emphasized his country's eagerness to further develop trade, cultural ties with Iraq.
In the same vein, he said that there is an earnest desire to contribute to investment and to promote development opportunities in Iraq.
