A barn owl that was attacked by a flock of crows has been rescued in Sivaganga, southern India.

Kartick Raja, a journalist, chased away a flock of crows after he saw the birds attacking a barn owl.

He then handed over the distressed owl to wildlife officials who checked the bird's condition.

A forest official said: "It's a barn owl. It usually hunts at night and it will lose its vision during the day. Crows may take this as an advantage and may attack this bird."
