At the first public Bend-La Pine School Board meeting since the pandemic started in March 2020, the newly elected and sworn in school board committee decided to cut the time for public comments short due to unwanted parent testimony.

At least 100 concerned parents showed up to listen, participate & voice their opinions, only to have their time repeatedly interrupted by the fascist school board.

As more and more parents voiced opinion unfavorable with the Critical Race Theory agenda on the public record, the board realized that this push back against the school board and their agenda needed to be stopped. The school board talked over public comment of parents threatening to adjourn. The school board also incorrectly stated schoolboard guidelines as if these guidelines could supersede the 1st Amendment. Eventually the board chair had all she could stand and then proceeded to cut the parents time short. The board chair was so emotional she was shaking uncontrollably as she swung her gavel while trying to enforce her tyranny on the parents of the community.

The parent in this clip cited the 1964 Supreme Court ruling of NYT vs Sullivan. The Court said, in order to carry out “a profound national commitment to the principle that debate on public issues should be uninhibited, robust, and wide-open,” and should be allowed to include even “vehement, caustic, and sometimes unpleasantly sharp attacks on government and public officials.”

In their first public meeting, the Bend-La Pine School Board committee violated their sworn duty to uphold the US Constitution on day 1, and they violated the individual liberty of protected free speech of the parents that showed up to voice their opinion on the public record.

This board is less concerned with the poor scoring and performance of the children in their district and more concerned with politics and their political agenda. Bend -La Pine and Oregon have below average ratings on education nationally.
