This is downtown Jaco, Costa Rica. The main road where all the tourists come to hang out. 🇨🇷

→ The walk starts at the intersection of Calle Bohio and Pastor Diaz Ave. We'll be heading south along Pastor Diaz Ave. This road is usually very busy during the day, with pedestrians and vehicle traffic.

→ Along this walk there are lots of tourist shops with souvenirs, food and various local themed items. Restaurants are everywhere - with pizza shops, taco joints, ice cream and cafes.

→ We'll pass by Calle Lapa Verde, which is a road that connects all the way to the main highway. Along this road there are more shops and stores, as well as a few more hotels and long term rental condos. You can find bike shops on this road as well. Check out Ciclo Xscape at the corner of Calle Lapa Verda/Costanera Sur for some cheap used bikes and parts.

→ Back on Pastor Diaz Ave, you'll find Banco Nacional which has great exchange rates for various currencies. Bring your passport to exchange money. A little bit further there's Mas X Menos, which is a full grocery store with ample parking and cab pickup on the street.

→ Another couple minutes walk, you'll reach JacoWalk, a shopping center with electronics stores, many very nice restaurants, and a playground.

→ All along Pastor Diaz Ave, there are short roads that head westward towards the ocean. We'll take Calle Sol D'Oro to get there. These roads have lots of hotels and condos, which are very convenient if you're spending lots of time at the beach or surfing.

Travelling in Costa Rica is much easier when you know some conversational Spanish. Many locals will understand English, but it will ease your experience by knowing some basic Spanish in advance. You'll be able to ask better questions and understand signs/shop owners. I recommend using Rosetta Stone before you even leave for your trip, and when you arrive you can refine your conversational skills.
